Further explore existing touch points and improve upon 3M’s current hearing conservation ecosystem.
Through journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, and storyboarding, my team explored ways to increase connectedness within the current 3M hearing conservation ecosystem.
Smart Sound Earplugs and a 3M app was imagined to improve the process of gathering complete and accurate observations for hearing conservation reports.
3M embraces ecosystem thinking as a means for both understanding their customers, and thinking about how to design connected solutions that meet the needs of their end users.
Businesses in 2016 paid over $1.5 million in penalty fines and $242 million in worker’s compensation for failing to implement successful hearing conservation programs. Our design team identified this as an opportunity to design a system that could better protect businesses from fines and compensation fees. Our strategy was focused around the roles of the safety manager. We determined that the day-to-day process of gathering complete and accurate observations for hearing conservation reports is a pain point for safety managers.
